We know that keep announcing that each day is a big one. It may sound like hyperbole, but Elaine’s progress from day to day is so incredible that it makes every day HUGE.

Today was no exception. It was a really big day!

Elaine walked about 80 steps today with just a cane!   That’s right!  We’ll repeat it in case you missed it. ELAINE WALKED ABOUT 80 STEPS WITH JUST A CANE! Now that is the definition of a big day.  Oh yeah, Fred and Elaine also opened escrow on a new house at Big Canyon. Did we mention that she walked 80 STEPS today?

The therapists and rehab center staff were so impressed with her effort and her results. So were we! When we brought her dinner tonight, she was in great spirits and maybe even more motivated to continue to work hard toward her goal of getting out of there and on with her life.

We are convinced that Elaine’s progress is a result of true grit and determination mixed in with an amazing support system of family and friends combined with the grace of God.

We are all so excited and hoping she can have a restful night. Fred is so giddy with excitement that we hope he can sleep. Elaine continues to progress and inspire. We have all been cautioned not to expect this tomorrow, but the fact that she was able to do it and to remember to stand up straight and keep that GGA tight was incredible. It serves as a great sign for her long-term recovery. It was the first time she has been able remember to do both of those things unprompted while simultaneously remembering to move her right foot and then her left.  It was nothing short of a miracle given the impact on her short-term memory from the stroke. So keep sending thoughts and prayers. Keep emailing, texting, and calling. Keep visiting and encouraging. It is working!
